PHILOSOPHIE

philosophy

After 18 years as a scientist with a focus on cancer and stem cell research, I made a 180-degree turnaround in 2021 and turned my previous hobby and passion, the winemaking, into profession.

Projekt: Wildtyp. has been coined to stand for the following goals:

The grapes shall do what they can do naturally: i.e. fermenting.

No additives or technical aids are used, except for tiny amounts of sulfur - only if necessary (last time in 2022).

To achieve this, our works in the vineyard and in the cellar have to be intertwined:

that means both, letting the full space for microbial diversity in the vineyards as well as being meticulously clean when working in the cellar.

Towards more diversity of microorganisms in the soil and on the vines - this leads to a natural liveliness in the taste!

Wines

naturally cloudy - whole bunch macerated - unfiltered

DRANGALO

Draft Label_Drangalo_neu.jpg

Grüner Veltliner | schist/quartz, single vineyard | 4 days maceration | 7 months enox steel tank

"One more 'drangal', please!"

You will definitely take another one! Drangalo is like a good friend, always ready to help and willing to stay longer. A polite companion that you can bring with you on every occasion, but also a genuine party-king, depending on what is needed!

Alk.: 10%

residual sugar: <1g/l

sulfur: no sulfites added, contains naturally occuring sulfites

LUMPAZI (currently unavailable)

Rivaner (= Müller-Thurgau) | Lime/schist, single vineyard | 12 days maceration | 7 months enox steel tank

"Lumpazi" (good friend and truth-telling vagabond from a famous Austrian 19th century play)

He is provocative and defiant. A creative and free spirit who can't easily be bended. But he manages to put a smile on your face every day!

Alk.: 10%

residual sugar: <1g/l

sulfurno sulfites added, contains naturally occuring sulfites

SPRUDLA (soon available)

Pétillant naturel (Pet Nat) | 80% fermented Müller-Thurgau | Filled into the bottle with 20% unfermented Grüner Veltliner using the Colfondo method

I was an experiment. A special one: our 14-day macerated PetNat.

Orange bubbles with tannins. Pleasure that can't wait.

Alk.: 11%

residual sugar: <1g/l

sulfur: no sulfites added, contains naturally occuring sulfites

Vorderlabel_Schlawina_heller.jpg

SCHLAWINA (currently unavailable)

Neuburger | Schist, single vineyard | 11 days maceration | Aged for 13 months: 65% new untoasted oak barrel/35% enox steel tank - blended before bottling

"Schlawina" = rascal, cheeky guy

My origins from schisty soils promise an aristocratic demeanour. However, my socialization is very down-to-earth. I'm very aware of both, so I like to play with them, if you know what I mean ;-)

Alk.: 12%

residual sugar: <1g/l

sulfurno sulfites added, contains naturally occuring sulfites

Vorderlabel_Krawallo_heller.jpg

KRAWALLO!

Grüner Veltliner | schist/quartz/sand soils, single vineyard | low yield | 17 days maceration time | matured for 13 months in untoasted oak barrels (85%) and enox steel tank (15%) - blended before bottling

"Krawall" = riot!

I am a revolutionary! A real troublemaker: I want to offend and provoke. Never mainstream. There are only few like me but that does not matter because I am aloud and I want to say something to the world: That my time has come and that there is no turning back!

Alk.: 13.5%

residual sugar: <1g/l

sulfur: no sulfites added, contains naturally occuring sulfites

Draft label_Gramuri_neu.jpg

GRAMURI

Blaufränkisch | Lime/clay soils, single vineyard | whole-bunch - 19 days maceration time | Blend from various containers consisting of 35% new oak barrels (untoasted) and 65% steel tanks, matured for 6 months

Gramuri (=useless stuff)

"Gramuri" is used to describe worthless dust-covered objects with high emozional value that people often keep at their homes. Even if others complain about "Gramuri" - everyone thinks of their own "Gramuri" as beautiful! More of that!

Alk.: 12%

residual sugar: <1g/l

sulfur: 17 mg/l added sulfites

FESCHAK

Blaufränkisch | limestone/sand single vineyard | 40% whole grapes (Carb-Mac) for 17 days | 13 months in new untoasted oak barrels (65%) and enox tank (35%) - blended before bottling

Entwurf Etikett_Feschak_neu.jpg

Feschak (=handsome guy)

"A man, who is more handsome than a monkey, is an absolute luxury" - that was the wise "Tante Jolesch's" most famous saying.

The saying that the inner beauty of something is only in the eye of the beholder may be true for many things. But rarely do you come across true beauty.  We think that's what our Feschak is all about. Can you taste it too?

Alc. : 12.5%

Residual sugar : <1g/l

Sulfur : no sulfites added, contains naturally occuring sulfites
